Aluminium is a familiar material when it comes to a light weight with high stability. But aluminium is also an excellent choice when a barrier is needed to counteract moisture vapour diffusion. Compared to conventional moisture protection made of polyethylene (PE) it is possible to obtain a substantially higher Sd rating using the same thickness or to reduce the thickness drastically while maintaining the same Sd rating by using pure aluminium or aluminium coated foils. This is the reason why this method is used in our products from the Aluprotex® and Polytex line and also in the Professional area. The material is used as a component in the Rayflex® radiation protection mat for highly effective protection against radiation and even achieves an Sd rating of 1500m!
